My cat ate my cords, now what?

Use your USB Port on any Laptop as your iPad Charger

Now that I have your attention let me tell you a quick story, then the solution.

One morning when I woke up, I realized my iPad had not charged overnight.  As I was checking the connection, I realized the cord was completely in half, thanks to my cat.

Although I had more cords, I only have one wall connector and I forgot to take in the actual connector, so I had to try to charge my iPad while on the move.  I also think spending more money for a new wall charger from Apple is crazy, so that wasn’t going to happen either.  I plugged it straight into my Dell laptop thinking it would work, since I can charge most anything else (iPod Touch, HTC EVO 4G, iPhone, Motorola Zoom tablet, or whatever else) but I soon realized the iPad was requiring more than the normal USB port Specs require (of 500mA ) and was being told “Not Charging” by the iPad.   Even though i know when the screen is not on, it does slowly charge the iPad, it’s painfully slow.  Maybe a charge of 10% every 1-2 hours or so.

So now what?

I even tried a few ports on a PC Desktop and my MacMini, but still was not getting any luck.

I just wanted to be able to control the amps going to my USB ports, but didn’t want to make my USB port explore in the process.

Luckily I found a great FREE & Safe solution.
It’s called ASUS Ai Charger, and although the website looks like a scam or some cheap sales pitch, it definitely was not once I tried and researched it more.

Ever since I started using this, I use my laptop as my iPad charger, and it is just as fast using my laptop as it does when connected to the wall.
